]]>Freshen Up Your Space
Spring is nature’s way of saying “let’s start again,” and your apartment is no exception! Open those windows, let in that fresh air, and give your home a light seasonal refresh. Swap out heavier décor for lighter fabrics, add a pop of color with flowers, or even rearrange your space for a new feel. A clean, bright space just hits different this time of year.
Get Outside & Explore
Take advantage of the sunshine! Whether it’s a walk around the community, enjoying your morning coffee on your patio, or exploring local parks and waterfront spots nearby, now is the time to get moving and enjoy the season. Even a quick evening stroll can do wonders for your mood.
A/C Tips & Reminders
Before those warmer temps really settle in; now’s the perfect time to make sure your A/C is ready to go:
- Test your thermostat early so there are no surprises later
- We just replaced all air filters at the end of March so you should be good to go there
- Keep vents clear of furniture or décor so airflow isn’t blocked
- If something doesn’t seem right, don’t wait—submit a work order and let us take care of it
- Remember we take the AC service requests in the order we receive them for fairness to all
Little Things That Make a Big Difference
- Keep your patio or balcony tidy and welcoming
- Be mindful of trash -flatten boxes and help keep our community clean and running smoothly by thinking of others at the dumpster
- Say hello to your neighbors! Spring is a great time to reconnect and build that sense of community we love so much here
Looking Ahead
We’ve got some exciting things coming up this season, and we can’t wait to share them with you. From resident events to simple moments of sunshine, spring at Mill Creek Landing is all about enjoying where you live.
Here’s to longer days, warmer nights, and making the most of this beautiful season—right at home on the water and by the beach.

]]>The post The Mill Creek Winter Games Have Begun! appeared first on Mill Creek Landing Apartments Blog.
]]>So, we decided — why not have a little fun with it?
Inspired by the spirit of the Winter Olympics happening right now in Milan Cortina, we’re launching our very own (unofficial but highly competitive) Mill Creek Winter Games.
We made up some fun ‘games’ and you know us, it’s a little tongue in cheek, of course!
Event #1: The Parking Lot Dash
Timing your steps between chilly gusts and making it indoors like a champ!
Event #2: The Grocery Carry Biathlon
One trip from car to kitchen-even if it kills you and your arms fall off…. We know you have that strategy, strength, and determination!
Event #3: The Package Pick-Up Power Lift
Balancing boxes, mail, and keys with precision and poise. Nothing falls; you have the balance of a pro!
Event #4: The Evening Elegance Figure Skate
A graceful winter stroll through the community — steady, confident, and completely composed. Think smooth movement, warm layers still (even with the promise of spring right around the corner..), and main-character energy as you glide into your evening routine. Because let’s face it, you are the main character in your own story!
While we may not be competing on a world stage, there’s something special about how our community shows up during the quieter months, neighbors helping neighbors, friendly waves in the crisp air, and cozy lights glowing against early sunsets from balconies.
Spring is definitely on the horizon, and we are all ready for it, no doubt. Until then, let’s embrace the season, keep things light, and award ourselves a well-earned gold medal for thriving through February.
From all of us at Mill Creek Landing, you’re already champions in our book anyway!

]]>The post Winter Weather Update for Mill Creek Landing Residents appeared first on Mill Creek Landing Apartments Blog.
]]>As many of you may have seen in recent forecasts, the Hampton Roads area is keeping an eye on the potential for winter weather over the coming days. While details may continue to shift, current projections suggest the possibility of snow along with temperatures near or below freezing, which could allow conditions to linger into next week.
We wanted to share a few helpful reminders so you can feel prepared and know how to reach us if needed.
A Few Ways to Prepare Ahead of Time:
· Keep your phone charged and, if you have them, charge any backup power banks in advance. Get batteries for battery-operated candles/lights you may have too.
· Consider having a few days’ worth of food and essentials on hand. With colder temperatures expected to stick around, travel conditions may be slower than usual through next week.
· Printing or saving this information may be helpful in the event of a power outage.
If There Is a Power Outage:
If you experience a loss of power, the best course of action is to report it directly to Dominion Energy, as power restoration is outside the scope of what our maintenance team can address.
· Dominion Energy Outage Line: 1-866-366-4357
If you choose to use candles during an outage, please do so with caution. Candles should never be left unattended and should always be extinguished when you leave the room or go to sleep.
How to Reach On-Call Maintenance:
If you have an after-hours maintenance emergency:
· Call our leasing office at 757-850-8977. This number will route you to our on-call technician.
Please note that our on-call technician always covers two properties, so we truly appreciate your patience.
If you reach voicemail, please be sure to include:
· Your name
· That you live at Mill Creek Landing
· A phone number where you can be reached
· The nature of your emergency
Allow up to 30 minutes for a return call. If you haven’t heard back, you’re welcome to call again and leave another message — often the technician is assisting another resident and will return your call as soon as possible.
Community Safety:
Our team will continue to monitor weather conditions and respond as we’re able to help improve conditions around walkways, stairs, and common areas. As always, we encourage residents to use caution when moving around the community during winter conditions. Walk slowly, take care when walking to and from your vehicle, and be aware of the ground in front of you when moving about.
We’re hopeful the impact will be minimal, but preparation goes a long way. Thank you for taking a moment to review this information and for helping keep our community safe. We appreciate you!

]]>At Mill Creek Landing, the new year feels like a deep breath. A moment to shake off what didn’t serve us last year and step forward with a little more clarity, a little more kindness, and a lot more intention.
Living here puts you in a great spot to do exactly that.
Whether it’s a peaceful morning walk, rediscovering a favorite local coffee stop (hello Buckroe Coffee Co), or getting outside and soaking up some fresh air, our area offers so many simple ways to ease into the year ahead:
· Take a waterfront walk and let the water do what it does best—calm the mind and reset the soul.
· Explore local trails and parks nearby for a low-pressure way to move your body and clear your head.
· Support a local café or restaurant you’ve been meaning to try—sometimes a great cup of coffee or a cozy meal is all it takes to spark a new routine or give a new perspective.
· Plan small joys—a weekend stroll, a visit to the weekend market at the beach in spring through fall, a library visit, a sunset moment—those are the things that add up to a good life.
A fresh outlook doesn’t require a grand overhaul. It starts with small choices, made consistently, in a place that feels like home.
As we step into this new year, our wish for you is simple:
More peace. More laughter. More moments that feel like “this is exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
Thank you for being part of the Mill Creek Landing community. We’re grateful for you, and we’re looking forward to a year ahead filled with connection, growth, and good things—both big and small. And, if you don’t live here yet, consider us. We are pretty great! Our service will knock your socks off! If you need proof, check out our Google reviews online.
Here’s to a fresh start and a great year ahead for everyone. Welcome, 2026.

]]>The post Cozy Season by the Creek: Fall at Mill Creek Landing appeared first on Mill Creek Landing Apartments Blog.
]]>If you’ve noticed the sunsets looking extra spectacular lately, you’re not imagining it! Fall light tends to scatter differently as the days grow shorter, making those late-afternoon skies over the creek look like watercolor paintings — soft, layered, and absolutely stunning. So, grab a cup of something warm and step out to your balcony (or your favorite spot by the water). This is the time of year when Mill Creek shows off.
And because no cozy evening is complete without something sweet baking in the oven, here’s a simple fall treat that will fill your home with that “just like autumn” aroma:
Caramel Apple Puff Pastry Bites
Ingredients:
· 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed)
· 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Gala work great)
· 2 tbsp butter
· 2 tbsp brown sugar
· ½ tsp cinnamon
· ¼ tsp nutmeg
· 6 soft caramels, cut in half
· 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Peel, core, and dice apples. In a small pan, sauté them with butter, brown sugar, and spices until soft (about 5 minutes).
3. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 12 squares.
4. Spoon a small bit of apple mixture into each square and add a piece of caramel. Fold and pinch edges to seal.
5. Brush with egg wash and bake 15–18 minutes until golden and flaky.
Serve warm and pair with a mug of hot cider, coffee, or cocoa — the perfect snack to enjoy while you catch the sunset from your patio.

Cool tip: Fall is the golden hour of community life here, an ideal time to stroll the property, snap a few photos, or chat with neighbors while soaking in the views. The season may be fleeting, but it’s full of simple joys that remind us why home, especially a home by the water, feels so special.
So, pull on your favorite sweater, grab that mug, and let autumn do what it does best, remind us to slow down and savor the beauty around us.

]]>Start with a quick declutter. Go through closets, drawers, and kitchen cabinets to donate or toss what you don’t use. You’ll create space for cooler-weather layers, holiday décor, and that favorite cozy sweater you’ve been missing. Then swap out summer accents for autumn touches—think warm throw blankets, spiced candles, and a fall-inspired welcome mat to instantly change the vibe in your Phoebus apartment.
September is also the ideal time to reset routines. After a relaxed summer, it feels good to get organized again. Try meal prepping, updating your work-from-home space, or carving out time for fitness or self-care. Small changes now can make the busy months ahead feel a lot smoother.
With tiny thoughts of the holidays sneaking in our heads..it may feel early, but a little holiday planning now goes a long way. Make a gift list, set a budget, or decide which traditions you’d like to focus on this year—you’ll thank yourself later. It’s all about organization!
Of course, don’t forget to enjoy the season around Hampton. Farmers markets, festivals, and breezy waterfront walks make fall a great time to explore the historic Phoebus area right basically right down the street.
At Mill Creek Landing, we love seeing residents embrace the season. What’s your favorite way to welcome fall? Share your cozy tips or traditions with us on our community Facebook page—we’d love to hear!

]]>The post A Day in Phoebus: Where Flavor Meets Small-Town Charm appeared first on Mill Creek Landing Apartments Blog.
]]>Here’s how to spend a perfect foodie day in Phoebus.
Morning Pick-Me-Up: Firehouse Coffee
Start your day with a caffeine kick (and maybe a muffin the size of your head) at Firehouse Coffee. Tucked into an old firehouse, this local favorite has all the cozy vibes you’d expect and the friendly service that makes you feel like a regular—even if it’s your first time.
Brunch Goals: The Grey Goose
Next stop: The Grey Goose, freshly landed in its new Phoebus digs after more than four decades in Downtown Hampton. This isn’t just brunch; it’s a celebration. Think fluffy quiches, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits, and desserts that make you forget the word “diet” even exists. The new location at 10 South Mallory Street has the same Grey Goose heart with a refreshed Phoebus energy.
Midday Flavor: Phoebus Smokehouse
By lunchtime, you’ll catch the smell of hickory smoke drifting down Mellen Street—follow your nose straight to Phoebus Smokehouse. Whether you’re a ribs devotee or a smoked-wings fan, this spot is quickly earning its reputation as a go-to for barbecue lovers. Pro tip: bring a friend so you can “sample share” your way across the menu.
Afternoon Stroll: Boutiques & History
Walk it off with a little exploring. Phoebus is known for its quirky shops, antique treasures, and that historic small-town feel. You’ll find colorful storefronts, street murals, and plenty of spots to pop in and browse.
Evening Indulgence: Mango Mangeaux or Sandman Grill
For dinner, Phoebus gives you options. Mango Mangeaux serves up French-Creole flavors with a side of Southern charm (though this longtime favorite will close in early 2026—so go while you can!). Or, if you’re in the mood for casual, sports-bar energy, head to Sandman Grill for ribs, pork barbecue, and maybe a game on the big screen.
Nightcap: 29 Wines or Native Soul
Wrap up the day with a glass of something smooth. Whether it’s a curated pour at 29 Wines or a craft cocktail at Native Soul Bar, you’ll find Phoebus keeps the vibe relaxed and welcoming until the very end of the night.
Why We Love It
Phoebus isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to experience. Every corner has its own story, every restaurant its own flavor. And best of all, it’s right in Mill Creek Landing’s backyard.
So, the next time you’re wondering where to go for date night, brunch with friends, or just a Saturday wander, remember: a perfect day is waiting for you in Phoebus.

Annual Food Drive for Thrive Peninsula | July 14 – August 8, 2025
Summer’s heating up—and so is our spirit of giving! Here at Mill Creek Landing, we believe kindness is just as contagious as sunshine, and we’re back for another year of doing big things for a cause that truly matters. It’s time to Restock the Pantries, Mill Creek style!
From July 14 through August 8, we’re rolling up our sleeves (and clearing out our cupboards) for our annual Food Drive benefiting Thrive Peninsula—an incredible organization serving local families facing food insecurity. Check out this link to their website: Homeless Prevention | THRIVE Peninsula | United States
But hold on—it’s not just a food drive. Oh no. This is a very friendly competition between us and our sister communities, so let's show up and show out! Wedo that with heart, hustle, and half the canned goods aisle. :)
How You Can Help:
Drop off non-perishable food items in the leasing office during business hours. Even if you can swing frozen meat on sale, we’ll keep it in our freezer until delivery day and bring it all over to Thrive at one time.
Think pantry staples: canned veggies, soups, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, dry beans, shelf-stable milk… and maybe even a treat or two.
Bragging rights are on the line! If we get some great donation numbers, we can show everyone why Mill Creek is always a force for good.
Why It Matters:
Every can of soup, every box of pasta, every thoughtful donation adds up to something powerful. Thrive Peninsula helps keep local families fed, hopeful, and supported—and when we show up, we make a real difference.
So, whether you're dropping off a single item or bringing in a whole bag full of love, just know you're helping fill more than shelves—you’re filling hearts.
Let’s make this year’s drive the best one yet. We’ve got the heart; we’ve got the hustle… now we just need your help.
Got questions? Call or stop by the office.
Got donations? Bring ’em in—we’re ready for ya!
Mill Creek: Small but mighty. Generous to the core. Let’s restock those pantries like only we can. We might be tiny but we are surely mighty!

]]>The post Summer Maintenance Myths… Busted! (And a Few That Are Surprisingly True!) appeared first on Mill Creek Landing Apartments Blog.
]]>MYTH #1: “If I set the thermostat super low, my home will cool faster.”
Busted: Sorry, but your A/C isn’t a race car. It cools at a steady pace, no matter the number on the dial. Setting it to 60° won’t cool things faster—it’ll just make it work harder and longer, running up your energy bill. Keep it smart and steady at 72–75° for cool, comfortable living.
MYTH #2: “Leaving the bathroom or kitchen exhaust fan running is no big deal.”
Busted: Actually, it can be a big deal. Exhaust fans are designed for short bursts—not all-day duty. Letting them run constantly can overheat the motor and, in worst cases, create a fire hazard. Use them when needed, then flip them off.
MYTH #3: “Garbage disposals can handle anything.”
Busted: As much as we’d love that to be true, it’s not. Avoid putting coffee grounds, grease, eggshells, pasta, and stringy vegetables (like celery or corn husks) down the drain. They’re disposal cloggers-in-disguise. When in doubt, toss it in the trash.
